Training offered by Sirius medX. Leader in remote first aid training for over thirty years. Your instructor Eric Perras, patroller at the station and search and rescue technician in the Canadian Armed Forces (retired).

  • Saturday :

    • 8am to 4:30pm (30 mins lunch)

    • 5:30 pm to 9 pm CPR class

  • Sunday 

    • 8am to 4:30pm (30 mins lunch)

Description :

If you or someone in your group were to be injured or become ill while on a trip, would you know what to do?

This practical course is designed for people who work in remote areas or participate in outdoor activities in areas cut off from medical assistance. An introduction to remote first aid, this course focuses on learning practical skills, decision making and the specifics of the environment. This course is a mix of theory and practical lessons with outdoor practice, including dressing for the weather.


The course includes:

  • Instructor for a maximum group of 12 participants

  • Course manual (PDF)

  • Practice and simulation materials

  • Remote First Aid Certification 20hrs and Adult, Infant/Child CPR

 

Preparation:

  • It is important to arrive rested as Sirius courses require concentration. We cover a lot of material in a short period of time with many practical exercises. At the end of the course there is a multiple choice theory exam.

  • We provide the practice and simulation material but as this course is aimed at remote environments we suggest you bring a bag with what you would bring for a hike.

  • Minimum equipment :

  • Water bottle

  • Pen, pencil and paper

  • Indoor and outdoor clothing, we will be kneeling, sleeping, playing in the snow... Think of having shoes for inside to keep our floor dry.

  • Watch with second hand to take vital signs (much less practical with a phone)

Certification

  • Sirius course certificates are valid for three years.

  • It is possible to take this course to renew your SARI 40h qualification, you will need to provide your proof of SARI 40h qualification still valid.
